Karuhanga Byaruhanga is an experienced operations and field research expert with a strong background in legal advocacy, mental health support structures, and community-centered project management. He has offered research support to academic institutions like the University of Manchester and the University of Portsmouth, and grassroots organizations to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and psychosocial realities, particularly among vulnerable populations in East Africa. As Director of Operations, Karuhanga brings a strategic mindset and practical leadership experience in managing interdisciplinary teams, coordinating field logistics, and ensuring programmatic excellence. His work spans facilitating research for international postgraduate students, supporting PTSD advocacy among veterans and survivors, and leading social enterprises that serve women and youth in post-conflict regions. With a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, legal access, and the intersection of justice and mental health, Karuhanga is our lead legal consultant at FAJ. Karuhanga has a Bachelor of Law degree (hons) from Makerere University and a post graduate certificate in Indigenous People from the University of Alberta, Canada.
